
My Name is Dr. Joseph Provenzano
Dr. Joseph Provenzano has over forty years of experience as a teacher, instructional technologist, curriculum developer, and instructional designer, along with extensive work as a faculty developer and teaching coach. His professional experience spans a wide range of educational settings, including adult education programs, K–12 schools, community colleges, universities, and professional organizations.
Throughout his career, Dr. Provenzano has focused on connecting instructional tools and pedagogical strategies to meaningful student learning outcomes across diverse instructional environments. His expertise lies in supporting both new and experienced faculty as they develop effective, student-centered instructional practices.
For the past twenty years, his work has been concentrated in higher education administration. At Marymount University, he serves as Assistant Provost for Teaching and Assessment, where his responsibilities include faculty development, teaching and learning innovation, course design, instructional technology integration, and academic assessment.
Dr. Provenzano was born in Washington, D.C., and raised in Annandale, Virginia. He is married to Sandra Lee Teresa Parker, a librarian at Dumbarton Oaks in Washington, D.C., and is an active parishioner at St. Michael Catholic Church in Annandale, where he serves on the Finance Council and the Knights of Columbus.
Dr. Provenzano has a BA in English and an M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction, Instructional Design, from George Mason University and a Ph.D. in Education from American University
